Robert Daniel Brown, Mary Brown, Ryan Brown, and Glenn Pulliam, make up the Christian Contemporary Band “Age of Mercy”. With their rock-ribbed austerely, precise arrangements, and a catalogue of songs, they link biblical imagery to spiritually down-home gospel. Layer this style with some funk, top it off with smooth pop vocals, and then you have the sound of AOM. In an era of divisive religious values, AOM produces music that crosses generational and historical borders.
AOM has spent the last 23 years building ministries in Southern and Central Georgia. In their fifth year of marriage Danny and Mary began directing the worship program at Trinity Assembly of God Church in Wrightsville, Ga. After leading the worship team there for 3 years it was time for Danny and Mary to move on. Leaving Trinity after 3 years, the two headed to United Faith Ministries in Davisboro, Ga., where they held the same positions as church worship directors, developing their music and original sounds. It was at this time Danny and Mary began making music that would touch people both inside and outside the church. Next, The Browns moved to New Wine Ministries in Sandersville, Ga., where Mary received a vision from God. Mary said God told her that she would create a “new sound”, and one day that sound would be heard by the world. During this period AOM was known as LIFE SIDE. After a few years at New Wine Ministries, Mary and Danny moved over to The Sanctuary of Dublin, GA., an Independent Church, to direct worship. During this time, the Brown’s thirteen year old son, Ryan, joined the group. Ryan began arranging his mother’s songs and playing guitar with the band. Ryan Brown, a child prodigy, brought a new modern rock sound to the family worship band style. Adding the coloration of rock & roll to the sound, the family began creating a soundtrack for unifying the religious divide. With Ryan’s evolution on the guitar, the Browns created a new name, Age of Mercy. It was at this time the band began a year of worship direction and music creation for Teen Challenge of Middle Georgia. After Teen Challenge decided to use their own inside staff to direct worship, Danny and Mary once again packed their bags and moved on. With a new name and Mary’s vision, Age of Mercy is building a celebration of rural Georgia life that has also spawned another vision, Mercyville, USA. Created by Danny and Mary Brown, Mercyville, USA is a non-profit organization that provides opportunities for homeless individuals and families to gain job training. Mercyville, USA also works to improve the life skills of the homeless in order to re-locate and re-enter society. Age Of Mercy’s new single “Blessings in Disguise”, written by Glenn Pulliam and produced by Ryan Brown, is a masterpiece worship song with a strong message about the homeless crisis. Age of Mercy’s music influences include artists from modern Contemporary Christian music such as, Toby Mac, Skillet, New Song, The Newsboys, and the Katinas. Simply put, Age of Mercy is an advocate for all. Their goal is to spread a positive message of hope, help others, and bring people together.
